On June 4, the Terra Siberia 2023 race was held in Tomsk. This event is a part of the All-Russian half marathon «ZaBeg.RF». The goal of the event is to popularize sport and promote a healthy lifestyle.
According to the original plan, the marathon was supposed to start at the same time in 85 cities of Russia. However, due to the abnormal summer heat in Tomsk, the start of the race in our city was postponed to 9:00 am.
This year, almost 800 Tomsk residents participated in the half marathon. There were four distances available: 1, 5, 10 and 21.1 kilometers. In addition to the classic running, it was possible to register for the relay race and Nordic walking. Also there was a race for young athletes — children under 12 years old.

It is the second participation in Terra Siberia for SIAM company. We are always ready to support the sports initiatives of our employees. So, this year the company was represented by several runners: Alexander Anikanov, Director of the Well Testing Department, Anastasia Shevtsova, Junior Specialist of the Well Testing Department and Alexandra Vishnareva, Senior Specialist of the Well Testing Department. The first two chose the longest distance — 21.1 km. Alexander Anikanov finished the race with a result of 2:19:26, Anastasia Shevtsova — 2:24:49. Alexandra Vishnareva chose a distance of 5 km and finished the race with a result of 41:42.
According to Anastasia, who ran such a long distance for the first time, she took this race as a challenge. «I felt that I would not be able to overcome this distance. I thought that if I didn't run, I would walk. But in the end I was surprised that I was able to overcome this distance without a lot og preparation». In addition, Anastasia noted that even the abnormal heat wasn’t an issue for her. «I liked the event. The marathon creates such a sporty and energizing atmosphere. I think that next year I will do it again».

For the SIAM Company sport has been a priority for a long time. We believe that physical activity helps to improve health and to increase the efficiency and commitment of employees. And the top management of the company has shown and continues to show this by example.
For example, the managing director of BU SIAM Andrey A. Dubov has been running for several years. Last year, he ran a full marathon (distance — 42.2 km) in St. Petersburg and Moscow. In Moscow, our main pacemaker, who sets the rythm for SIAM, managed to show a high result. He finished the race with a result of 3:26:42 (average speed 4:54 min/km). This achievement is an example of fortitude, endurance, patience and the ability to follow your goals. Andrey Dubov is an example for all employees.
