Today, hackathons are a popular IT event, where participants compete in joint programming or solving creative tasks in a limited time. They are an important platform not only for mastering technical skills, but also for developing the ability to present yourself and your work.
This year, an employee of Siam Master participated in such an event. From December 9 to 12 in Kazan Konstantin Devyatov took part in «INNOBATTLE» hackathon, which was a part of the forum «Our Tatarstan. Territory of Opportunities».
On the first day of the event, guest experts read lectures for participants of hackathons. On December 10 and 11, teams worked on projects. The hackathon organizers prepared 2 cases for participants: full-stack development for the multilingual complex «Adymnar» and Python program development for company «Gradoservice». On the last day, the projects were reviewed by experts and the best works were celebrated.

Konstantin and his team successfully upgraded the ActiveMap application for «Gradoservice». They added plugins to automate employee operations and improved report validation. In addition, they created a web client for displaying tasks for clients. According to the results of the project review, Konstantin’s team took the first place. According to a representative of the company, «Gradoservice» plans to use their work to improve its system.
The developed solutions can also be applied in the oil service sector, for example, to monitor vehicles and operational repairs.
According to Konstantin, participation in «INNOBATTLE» allowed him to gain valuable teamwork skills. First of all, the skill of working with other people. In addition, this hackathon allowed him to train his project presenting skills.
Events like this are useful not only for its participants. «Hackathons are unique platforms where developers can test their skills on rea cases. At the same time, these events are an effective tool for companies to identify employees with high potential and get new ideas that can be useful in solving their business problems», said Konstantin.
